Weekend in Stockholm

This past weekend we flew up to Stockholm to explore a new Swedish city! The city lies on a series of peninsulas and islands all connected by bridges, so navigating the city was a little difficult. We spent time wandering the streets of Gamla stan, which is the “old town” of Stockholm, and touring the Royal Palace. We learned about the Swedish monarchy, saw beautiful halls and bed chambers, looked at gorgeous crowns and jewels, and watched the changing of the guards.

We also went to the Vasa Museet, which is a museum showcasing the Vasa ship that capsized and sank in the 1600s. It was raised from the bottom of the sea just off the shore of Stockholm more than 300 years later. I was shocked by how much I enjoyed learning about it! My photos did not turn out from inside the museum, but you can click on the link above to see some pictures. I should also give a quick shout-out to my travel buddies for letting me walk through the museum for a few hours (:

Of course, we had some AMAZING food in Stockholm. Our favorite meals included breakfast at Greasy Spoon and traditional kanelbullar (Swedish cinnamon rolls) and other pastries with fika at Fabrique.

Hej då för nu,
